Refrigerator Removal

Refrigerators are one of the most difficult appliances to remove from a home. They’re heavy, bulky, and almost always positioned in tight kitchen spaces with limited maneuvering room. Add flooring that scratches easily and doorframes that barely clear the unit’s width, and what looks like a straightforward job becomes a real problem without the right equipment and experience.

We remove refrigerators of all sizes, standard top- and bottom-freezer models, side-by-side units, French-door refrigerators, and oversized counter-depth models. We bring the equipment needed to move them safely, without damaging floors, walls, or cabinets.

Refrigerators contain refrigerant that requires certified handling under EPA regulations. We don’t skip that step; every refrigerator we remove is disposed of in compliance with regulations.

Washer and Dryer Removal

Washers and dryers present their own set of challenges. Washers are significantly heavier than most people expect. Front-load models, in particular, can exceed 200 pounds. Dryers must be disconnected from gas or electric connections before they can be safely moved. And laundry rooms are rarely designed with appliance removal in mind.

We remove both washers and dryers, individually or as a pair, from wherever they’re located on the property. Whether the laundry room is on the first floor, the second floor, or in a closet with a narrow doorway, we handle the removal from start to finish.

What to Know Before We Arrive

Gas dryers need to be disconnected from the gas line before removal. If your dryer is gas-powered and still connected, we recommend that a licensed plumber disconnect it before our arrival. Electric dryers can be unplugged and are ready to go as-is. If you’re unsure what type of dryer you have, check the back of the unit. Gas dryers have a flexible metal hose connecting to the wall.

Freezer Removal

Chest freezers and upright freezers are among the heaviest appliances in a home relative to their size. A full-size chest freezer can weigh over 150 pounds and sits low to the ground, making it difficult to grip and nearly impossible to move without proper equipment.

We remove chest freezers, upright freezers, and deep freezers from garages, basements, utility rooms, and outdoor storage areas throughout our service area. Like refrigerators, freezers contain refrigerant and require certified disposal, which we handle as standard for every freezer removal job.

Stove and Oven Removal

Both gas and electric stoves require careful handling during removal. Gas stoves need to be disconnected from the gas supply before they can be moved. We strongly recommend having this done by a licensed plumber prior to our arrival. Electric stoves can be unplugged directly.

We remove freestanding ranges, slide-in ranges, wall ovens, and double ovens. Cooktops that are built into countertops may require additional coordination depending on the installation. Send us a photo before booking, and we’ll let you know exactly what’s involved.

Built-In Appliances

Dishwasher Removal

Dishwashers are connected to the water supply and drain lines, which need to be disconnected before the unit can be pulled from the cabinet. Attempting to remove a dishwasher without first disconnecting these lines can cause water damage. It’s a step that can’t be skipped.

We recommend turning off the dishwasher’s water supply before our arrival. The shutoff valve is typically located under the kitchen sink. If you’re not comfortable with this step, a plumber can handle it quickly before we come out.

Once disconnected, we pull the unit, load it, and haul it away. Dishwasher removal is one of our faster jobs; most are out in under 30 minutes once the lines are disconnected.

Window AC Unit Removal

Window AC units are straightforward to remove but awkward to handle alone; they’re heavy for their size, unbalanced, and positioned at height in a window frame. Dropping one is a real risk without a second set of hands and the right approach.

We remove window AC units throughout our service area. Units containing refrigerant are processed through certified disposal. This applies to most window units manufactured after 2010. We’ll let you know at the time of the job how your unit will be routed.

Microwave Removal

Over-the-range microwaves are mounted to cabinets and connected to electrical wiring. Removing them without damaging the surrounding cabinetry requires care and the right tools. Countertop microwaves are straightforward pickups.

Estate cleanouts, foreclosure properties, and rental turnovers often involve multiple appliances that need to be removed simultaneously. A full kitchen refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, and microwave, along with a washer and dryer, is a common scope for these types of jobs.

We handle multi-appliance removals regularly throughout Polk County and East Hillsborough County. When multiple appliances are coming out of the same property, we coordinate the removal sequence to move through the space efficiently without causing damage.

Responsible Appliance Disposal

Appliances don’t go straight to the landfill, and they shouldn’t. Here’s how we handle disposal for the most common types:

Refrigerant-containing appliances — refrigerators, freezers, window AC units, and dehumidifiers all contain refrigerants regulated under EPA Section 608. These units are processed through a certified recovery process before disposal. We don’t take shortcuts on this step.

Appliances in working condition — if an appliance is functional and in reasonable condition, we explore donation options before disposing of it. Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Lakeland and local Goodwill locations regularly accept working appliances.

Non-working appliances — those that can’t be donated are taken to the North Central Transfer Station in Auburndale for proper disposal. Metal components are separated for recycling where possible.
